Amnesty International is a fifty-seven year old non-governmental organization NGO.  Although Amnesty has historically fought for the rights of political prisoners (“prisioners of conscience”),  its current work includes migrant and refugee rights, protecting human rights defenders, abolishing the death penalty, national security and human rights, deadly force and police accountability,  ending gun violence;  gender, sexuality, and identity; and individuals at risk.
